Fold Over Elastic (FOE) — Made in Our Jaipur Factory

✓ Last checked: 2026-07-21
Fold over elastic (FOE) is a soft nylon-spandex elastic with a pre-creased centre line, used to bind edges on lingerie, baby wear, headbands and activewear. We make it in our Jaipur factory in 15, 20 and 25mm widths, matte or shiny face, from just 100 meters per SKU, and we ship to 50+ countries.

We've run twisting, braiding and dyeing machines in our Jaipur factory for over 20 years, and fold over elastic is one of those products buyers rarely think hard about — until their binding starts puckering. FOE isn't decoration. It's a working component: it binds the raw edge of lingerie, baby wear, headbands and activewear, and it gets stretched thousands of times over a garment's life.

Garment makers don't buy FOE by the meter. They buy it by the roll, in the same shade, again and again. Roll after roll. That changes what matters — a slightly cheaper roll with a wandering fold line costs you more on the sewing floor than you ever saved on the invoice.

We make FOE in 15, 20 and 25mm widths, matte or shiny face, with prints possible, from 100 meters per SKU, and we export to 50+ countries.

What is fold over elastic and where is it used?

Fold over elastic is a knitted nylon-spandex elastic with a permanent centre crease, made to fold over a raw fabric edge and bind it in a single pass. The shiny face gives a satin look; the matte face takes prints well and sits flatter against skin.

  • Lingerie — leg and waist openings, bra frames
  • Baby wear — soft binding that doesn't scratch
  • Headbands — often the whole product is just printed FOE
  • Activewear — armholes and necklines that need stretch recovery

One elastic, four industries. That's why the demand numbers look the way they do.

Why does the fold line matter more than price?

Because your operator sews at speed, and the crease is her guide. If the fold line drifts off-centre along the roll, one edge of the binding comes out wider than the other and the garment looks homemade. Honestly, I'd tell any buyer comparing two FOE quotes to ignore the per-meter price first and check crease consistency across a full roll instead (most buyers check width and shade, never the crease). Cheap FOE folds crooked.

We check the crease along the length before rolls leave our factory — not just at the roll head. An uneven crease means rejected binding, rethreading, lost floor time. It shows.

💡 Ask your supplier for a 5-10 meter running sample cut from an actual production roll, not a swatch card. A swatch hides fold drift; a running length can't.

How big is the demand for fold over elastic?

Google search data (July 2026) shows fold over elastic is one of the highest-demand elastics in the US, with monthly searches running into six figures. The same data records 14,800 monthly searches for fold over elastic in India, where small garment units and headband sellers drive most of it. Demand stays steady through the year — FOE goes into products people buy in every season.

For buyers, the practical numbers matter more: our MOQ is 100 meters per SKU, air courier lands in 7-14 days, sea freight in 25-40 days, and we answer every quote within one working day.

Buying FOE by the roll: widths, faces and prints

Three widths cover almost every use. 15mm for baby wear and light lingerie. 20mm as the general workhorse. 25mm for waistbands and headbands. Matte and shiny face come off the same construction, so you can run mixed orders without changing your sewing setup.

Prints go on the matte face. And since we dye in-house, shade matching across repeat orders is our problem, not yours — send a target shade or a physical cutting and we'll match it, then hold the recipe for your reorders.

Frequently asked questions

What is fold over elastic used for?

Fold over elastic is used to bind raw fabric edges on lingerie, baby wear, headbands and activewear. It folds over the edge along its centre crease and is sewn in one pass, giving a stretchy, soft finish. Headband makers also use printed FOE as the product itself.

What widths does fold over elastic come in?

Standard fold over elastic widths are 15mm, 20mm and 25mm. 15mm suits baby wear and light lingerie, 20mm is the general-purpose size, and 25mm works for waistbands and headbands. We make all three in matte and shiny face.

What is the minimum order for fold over elastic?

Our minimum order is 100 meters per SKU. A SKU means one width, colour and finish combination, so you can trial several shades in a single small order. We answer quote requests within one working day.

Can fold over elastic be printed?

Yes, fold over elastic can be printed, and the matte face takes prints best. Headband and baby-wear brands use printed FOE heavily. Send us your artwork and target width and we'll confirm feasibility along with the quote.

How long does shipping take from India to the US?

Air courier from our Jaipur factory reaches the US in 7-10 days; sea freight takes 25-40 days. Most FOE buyers start with an air shipment to approve quality, then move repeat rolls to sea. We quote both options within one working day.
