Pom pom lace is one of those trims that does a lot of visible work for very little cost. A single row along a cushion edge or a kurta hem changes the whole look of the piece, and it sews down in one pass through the header tape — no hand finishing, no separate applique step.
We have run narrow fabrics in Jaipur since 2004, with twisting, braiding, dyeing and tipping all under our own roof. Because we braid the header and form the pompoms ourselves, pompom diameter, gap between pompoms and header width are all things you specify rather than things you settle for. Trial orders start at 100 metres per colour.
How Is Our Pom Pom Lace Made, and From What?
Pom pom lace is really two products joined into one, and it helps to think of it that way when you write your spec.
The header tape is braided on our narrow braiding machines from yarn that has already been dyed to shade in our own dye house. Carrier count sets the header width and how firm the tape feels under a needle — a denser header holds its line along a long hem, a lighter one drapes better on soft fabric.
The pompoms are formed separately from the same dyed cotton or acrylic yarn, then attached to the header at a fixed spacing in an assembly step before the trim is wound. Because that assembly is a separate operation, three things are genuinely open to you: pompom diameter, spacing between pompoms along the tape, and header width. Wide spacing with a large pompom reads bold and festive; tight spacing with a small pompom reads closer to a textured fringe.
Materials: cotton gives a matte, absorbent pompom with a softer, slightly irregular surface, which suits natural-fibre home textiles and craft ranges. Acrylic gives a rounder, fluffier and more uniform pompom that holds its shape better and keeps its brightness in strong shades. Header and pompom can be the same shade or deliberately contrasted — a neutral header with a coloured pompom is a common request because it disappears into the seam.
The honest point to state up front: this is a made-to-order trim, not a stock line. Every combination of size, spacing, width and shade is a fresh set-up, which is why we quote against a spec rather than against a catalogue number.
How Does Wholesale Buying Work From Our Factory?
You tell us pompom size, spacing, header width, material and colours; we quote within one working day. Braiding, dyeing and pompom assembly all happen in the same Jaipur unit, so there is no trading layer between the machine and your invoice.
- MOQ of 100 metres per colour, so a first order can carry four or five shades and still stay small
- Custom shades dyed in-house against your physical swatch, for both header and pompom
- Pompom diameter and spacing set to your requirement at machine set-up
- Put-up to suit your line: retail cards, reels, or continuous bulk rolls for cut-and-repack
- Repeat orders run against your saved spec, so size, spacing and shade stay consistent
- Export packing — polybagged and carton-packed for sea or air freight
A typical first order from a home-furnishing buyer: 100 metres each of five shades at one pompom size, stitched into their own cushion and curtain samples to check how the pompoms sit once the seam is closed, then a production order across the full shade card. Because the header is what carries the stitch, most buyers finalise header width on that first trial and then only change colours afterwards.
What Do Businesses Actually Use Pom Pom Lace For?
Pom pom lace sells into several unrelated trades, and each one cares about a different part of the spec:
- Home furnishings — cushion covers, curtain leading edges, bed runners, table linen and lampshades, usually with a medium pompom and a header narrow enough to vanish in the seam
- Apparel — kurta and dupatta edges, kaftan hems, childrenswear, resort and beachwear, where a soft cotton pompom is preferred against skin
- Craft and haberdashery brands — cut and rewound onto branded cards for notions walls and online craft stores, where a bright acrylic pompom photographs better
- Event and seasonal decor — bunting, garlands, gift wrap and festive decoration, where large pompoms and wide spacing give the most effect per metre
- Bag and accessory makers — tote edges, pouch trims and hat bands, usually in small runs across many shades
In every one of these the trim is on the outside of the finished product, so shade consistency between batches matters far more than it would for a hidden component. That is the practical argument for buying from the unit that runs its own dye house rather than from a stockist reselling whatever lot arrived.
Why Buy Pom Pom Lace Factory-Direct?
Most decorative trim passes through two or three hands before it reaches a buyer, and each hand adds margin without adding any control over the product. Buying direct reverses that: you set pompom size, spacing, header width and shade, we braid, dye and assemble to it, and what arrives is what we made.
Jaipur sits inside one of the world's largest textile clusters, which is why we can dye small custom lots that larger mills will not schedule. For Indian buyers that means a surface shipment of a few days; for export buyers, air courier is often practical on first orders because pompom lace is bulky but very light.
