Natural golden jute, twisted in-house at our Jaipur factory.

Jute rope is a twisted natural-fibre rope made from the stalk of the jute plant — and that plant grows almost entirely in the Indian subcontinent. We twist it at our factory in Jaipur: 2mm garden twine up to 32mm decor rope, 2 and 3-ply, spooled or coiled however your line needs it.

Here's the part most buyers miss (this surprises most buyers): if you're buying jute rope from a European or Chinese supplier, you're almost certainly buying Indian jute that was shipped out, re-twisted or re-packed, and sold back with a markup. The fibre started here. Buying from us just removes the detour.

We've been in cords for 20+ years and ship to 50+ countries. MOQ is 100 meters per SKU, and we answer quotes within one working day.

Why buy jute rope directly from India?

Because the jute grows here. India and Bangladesh produce nearly all of the world's jute fibre, and the golden fibre we twist was grown on Indian soil. When a warehouse in Rotterdam or a trader in Guangzhou sells you jute rope, the raw material still made the trip from here first. Same fibre. Longer journey.

Honestly, most 'European' jute rope is our jute with a bigger markup and a nicer label. Buying at source skips that layer — and you get a factory that can actually change things for you: put-up length, ply, diameter, even dyed shades, because twisting and dyeing both happen in-house.

The demand is real, too. Google search data (July 2026) shows 8,100 monthly searches for jute rope in India, flat year-round with no seasonal dip. The USA adds another 5,400 monthly searches, and UAE interest peaks each November at around 320 monthly searches as decor season starts.

What sizes and constructions do we make?

The full run is 2mm to 32mm. The thin end is jute twine — 2-4mm, 2-ply, the workhorse for packaging, tagging, and garden tying. From 6mm up you're into proper twisted rope, 3-ply, used for decor, handles, pet furniture, and display work.

  • Jute twine (2-4mm): 2-ply, spooled, packaging and garden use
  • Mid rope (6-12mm): 3-ply twisted, coiled or spooled
  • Thick rope (14-32mm): 3-ply, coiled, decor and statement applications

Standard finish is natural golden jute. We dye in-house, so muted colour runs are possible on the same MOQ of 100 meters per SKU. No middleman to convince first.

Where does jute rope actually get used?

Packaging is the biggest volume — gift wrap, hang tags, hampers. Garden centres take twine by the pallet. Then there's decor: railing wraps, mirror frames, lampshades, cat scratch posts, wedding styling. Craft retail wants short spooled put-ups; industrial packers want big coils. We pack both.

⚠️ Jute is a natural fibre. It absorbs moisture and loses strength when wet, so don't spec it for load-bearing or marine work. Use it where texture and biodegradability are the point — packaging, garden, decor, craft.

Frequently asked questions

What is jute rope made of?

Jute rope is made from the fibre of the jute plant, a rain-fed crop grown almost entirely in India and Bangladesh. The fibre is spun into yarns and then twisted into 2-ply or 3-ply rope. Ours is 100% natural golden jute with no synthetic blend.

Is jute rope strong enough for heavy use?

Jute rope has good dry strength for packaging, garden, and decor work, but it weakens when wet. It isn't the right choice for marine or load-bearing safety applications. Keep jute where its natural look and biodegradability matter, and use synthetics for lifting.

What is the difference between jute rope and jute twine?

The difference is mainly thickness — jute twine runs about 2-4mm while jute rope starts around 6mm. Twine is usually 2-ply and spooled for packaging and garden use. Rope is 3-ply twisted and coiled for decor and heavier applications.

What is the minimum order quantity for jute rope?

Our MOQ is 100 meters per SKU. That applies per diameter and per colour, so you can trial several sizes in one order without committing to container volumes. We answer every quote within one working day.

How long does jute rope shipping from India take?

Air courier takes 7-14 days to most markets and sea freight takes 25-40 days. For the US, EU, and Middle East, air shipments usually land in 7-10 days. If you need stock for the November decor peak in the Gulf, book sea freight by early September.
